Welcome to Introduction to Stage Acting I.
Have you ever daydreamed about being on stage in one of your favorite plays? Standing there on stage beneath the lights with an entire theater audience mesmerized by your performance?
I did, and for many years, I was too shy to even think about getting on stage in front of so many people. That was until I began to understand that acting is a craft. Like any craft, once you have the tools, learn the techniques and continue to practice and work hard on them, you can become great at it.
As an actor, I have used these techniques in shows such as Doubt, Clybourne Park, and few original shows with a theater company in New York City, to name a few.
In this course, you will be introduced to:
  1. Theater History: The origins of theater
  2. Constantin Stanislavski and the origins of the “Stanislavski Method”
  3. Starter tools of Acting: Voice, Body/Movement, The Mind
In this course, we will begin with the basics and continue to build from there.
Course Objectives:
Understand how and where theater began
Begin to build an understanding of theater and acting terms
Begin to understand the origins of acting techniques used to create realistic characters
Understand why realistic acting techniques continue to work
Begin to identify an actor’s essential tools
